La Piste: surf spot guide
La Piste is the northernmost spot in Capbreton, on the border with Hossegor. It is a sandy beach break known for its hollow and fast waves, attracting local surfers looking for performance.
Unlike Santocha further south, La Piste is less sheltered by the Capbreton canyon. Waves are more powerful, with frequent barrel sections on good west swells. The spot can offer rights and lefts depending on sandbar configuration.
It is the ideal transition spot between Capbreton and Hossegor: more challenging than Santocha, but less powerful than La Gravière. For beginners, we recommend our surf lessons at Santocha.

Where is the La Piste spot in Capbreton?
La Piste is located in the north of Capbreton, between Prévent and the border with Hossegor. It is the last Capbreton spot before reaching the Hossegor beaches. Access is via the La Piste beach car park.
What level is required to surf at La Piste?
La Piste is a spot for intermediate to advanced surfers. Waves are hollow and fast, with barrel sections on good swells. It is not suitable for beginners.
What are the best conditions at La Piste?
La Piste works best with a west to northwest swell of 1 to 1.5 m, east wind (offshore) and low to mid-rising tide. On big swells (+2 m), the spot becomes very powerful and technical.
